California-born, Manchester-dwelling singer/songwriter Jesca Hoop will be releasing a new single next month.

‘Born To’ is the first trailer from Hoop’s second album The House That Jack Built, a record that sees her take on the big issues like life and death, sex and war. The track itself sees Hoop muse on the vagaries of birth, asking why some are born into incredible wealth and some into poverty.

If that all sounds a bit heavy, then don’t worry, as she’s managed to wrap her far-reaching themes into some pretty nifty tunes.

‘Born To’ is out on Jesca Hoop Curuja/Bella Union on June 11, with The House That Jack Built following on June 25. Hoop will also be playing some UK live shows to promote the release – dates are below:

June 16 – Walton-on-Trent Big Session
June 20 – Bristol Colston Hall 2
June 21 – London Bush Hall
June 29 – Leeds Brudenell Social Club
June 30 – Manchester Academy 3
July 27 – Kendal Calling
