Jesca Hoop brought in three different producers into the studio to work on her sophomore album, The House That Jack Built, out on June 26 via Bella Union. But writing the songs was a much lonelier endeavor, according to the singer/songwriter.

“I spent days and days without leaving the house and having zero contact with others,” Hoop explained about the long and solitary process of putting the album to pen.

Over the past couple of years, Hoop has gained recognition for her songwriting chops, which she first showed off on her 2009 debut, Hunting My Dress. That effort earned Hoop supporting spots on tours with the likes of Peter Gabriel, The Eels and Andrew Bird. Tom Waits once called her music “like a four sided coin."

That’s a description that aptly fits “Hospital (Win Your Love)", an infectious single off of her forthcoming album. It’s a multi-layered song with probing lyrics that Hoop writes, exploring “a human quality that causes us to crave injury.”

The House That Jack Built comes out tomorrow. Check out “Hospital (Win Your Love),” a song from that album, in the streaming player below.
